Credential stuffing

Credential stuffing is a common way scammers try to get into your accounts by using passwords they've stolen from other websites.

A hacker might get a list of usernames and passwords from a data breach on another site. They then use these details to try logging into your account without asking for a password. This is dangerous because it can let them access your email, bank accounts, or other personal information.

What it means

Credential stuffing is when someone tries to log into your account by using stolen usernames and passwords. These passwords are often taken from other websites where people might have reused the same password.

Why it matters

If a hacker gets into your account, they can steal your personal information, send messages in your name, or even take control of your online services. It's a way scammers can exploit weak security habits like using the same password everywhere.

What to do

Use a password manager to create unique passwords for each site. Enable two-factor authentication to add an extra layer of protection. If you think your password has been stolen, change it immediately and check for any suspicious activity.
