Phishing

Phishing is a common way scammers try to steal your passwords, credit card details, or other private information by pretending to be someone you trust.

Phishing is when someone tries to trick you into giving away personal information, like passwords or credit card numbers, by pretending to be a trusted person or organization. Scammers often use fake emails, text messages, or websites that look real to make you think you're interacting with a legitimate service.

Why it matters is that phishing can lead to identity theft, financial loss, and even damage to your business reputation if you're a small business owner. One everyday example is when you get an email that looks like it's from your bank, asking you to click a link to "verify your account." If you do, you might be taken to a fake site that steals your login details.

What to do is to always double-check the sender's email address, avoid clicking on suspicious links, and use tools like mailcheck to verify the legitimacy of emails before you respond. If you're unsure, contact the company directly through official channels instead of replying to the email.
